Black History Month is time to celebrate the past contributions and sacrifices of African American leaders across the world. It is also a time to acknowledge the accomplishments of current and future black leaders in our society. This black history month, we celebrate eight African American women leading problem-solving in the continuous improvement space.

These women became the first all-female class to become certified Six Sigma Green Belts through Purdue University’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP). What makes this cohort unique is that the focus of their Six Sigma Certifications centered around racial equity in the African American Community. The cohort’s Six Sigma projects covered a wide variety of problems including African American maternal mortality, improving access to educational grants, and employee retention.
Hughley facilitated Six Sigma coaching sessions for this group of esteemed female leaders and is excited to partner with Optimist Indy for Cohort 2. Cohort 2 will launch in the Spring of 2022.
